Animate titles, shapes, and stickers in, out, and in a loop

An element that pops into existence and vanishes on the same frame feels abrupt. A short entrance and exit make it feel placed. DepCut gives every title, shape, and sticker three animation slots, In, Out, and Loop, and a keyframe track for movement.
Find the controls
Select the element on the timeline or in the preview.
- For a title, open the Animate tab in the right panel.
- For a shape or sticker, scroll to the Animation section of the panel that opens.
Three buttons switch between the slots: In, Out, and Loop. A dot beside a name means that slot already has an animation, so you can see at a glance what an element is doing.
Pick a style
Each slot shows a grid of tiles. Hover over a tile and it plays its motion on a small stand-in, so you choose by watching. Pick None to clear the slot.
- In and Out offer Fade, Pop, Zoom, Slide left, Slide right, Slide up, and Slide down. Titles get one more, Typewriter, which reveals the letters one after another.
- Loop offers Pulse, Wiggle, Spin, and Float, which repeat for as long as the element is on screen.
The In animation plays at the start of the element's bar and the Out animation plays at its end. You can set all three on one element, for example Pop in, Float as a loop, and Fade out.
Set the length and speed
Once an In or Out style is picked, a Length slider appears. It runs from a tenth of a second to two seconds, and it cannot exceed the element's own duration. New animations start at half a second. A Loop has a Speed slider from 0.25× to 4×.
If the element belongs to a group, the animation applies to the whole group. Select two or more elements and press ⌘G (Ctrl+G on Windows and Linux) to group them.
Move an element with keyframes
Animation presets move an element in a fixed way. Keyframes let you place the movement yourself. They live in the Transform section of the panel, which is the Transform tab for a title.
- Move the playhead to where the element should start moving.
- Click the diamond labeled Add a key at the playhead. This records the element's current pose, so nothing moves yet.
- Move the playhead later and change Position, Rotation, or Opacity, or drag the element in the preview. This records a second key at that time, and the element glides between the two.
- Use Previous key and Next key to jump between keys, and the bin button to remove the key under the playhead.
Keys appear as small diamonds on the element's bar. Drag a diamond to move a key in time, or right-click it and choose Remove keyframe. Once an element has keys, a Scale row appears too.
Keep it short
A half-second entrance reads cleanly. Longer ones start to hold up the message. Using the same In style across a project's titles gives the video a consistent feel, and a loop works best on a single accent, such as an arrow or a sticker.
Try it
Select a title in DepCut, open Animate, hover over the tiles, and click Pop.
