Choose a font for your video titles in DepCut

A title's font sets the tone before anyone reads the words. A heavy condensed face shouts, a serif sounds editorial, a script feels personal. The Font tab in the right panel holds the whole list in one menu, and each name is drawn in its own typeface so you can judge it before you pick.
Open the font menu
- Select a title by clicking its purple bar or the title in the preview.
- In the right panel, open the Font tab.
- Open the font menu and pick a name. The preview changes at once.
Two buttons sit beside the menu, Bold and Italic. A new title starts bold unless the last title you styled was regular, and the Bold button flips it between bold and regular.
What the list holds
The menu mixes a short set of system faces with bundled families. The menu is one flat list with no headings, and it also holds ZYENA Hibernal and Liberation Serif. Sorted by mood, the main names read like this.
- Clean sans: SF Pro, Inter, Montserrat, Poppins, Space Grotesk.
- Heavy and condensed: Impact, Bebas Neue, Anton, Oswald, Archivo Black.
- Serif: New York, Playfair Display, DM Serif Display.
- Script and hand-drawn: Caveat, Pacifico, Lobster, Permanent Marker, Bangers.
- Rounded and Mono, each as its own entry.
Match the face to the job
Pick by what the title has to do.
- A one-word hit or a big number takes a heavy condensed face, such as Anton or Bebas Neue.
- A full sentence takes a clean sans or a serif, set at a moderate size.
- A personal or lifestyle video can take a script face for a name or a sign-off. Scripts get hard to read when they run long.
- A screen recording or a tech topic suits Mono.
Choose one font for the whole video, and a second only when it plays a clear role, such as the same family for chapter titles and a script for the closing line. Three fonts in one video look like three videos.
Refine the face
Two more tabs shape the text without changing the face.
- Spacing widens or tightens the gaps between letters. A little extra spacing helps a short heading in a heavy face breathe.
- Line height sets the gap between lines of a multi-line title. The default is 1.25, and the slider runs from 0.8 to 2. Stacked headlines look tighter at a lower value.
The Bold button maps to two weights, regular and bold. If a face looks too heavy at bold, switch Bold off and let the face's own weight carry the title.
Upload a font and reuse your pick
The last entry in the menu is Upload font…. It takes a .ttf or .otf file, adds it to the open project and sets the selected title in it. The font then appears in that project's title and subtitle menus. A file that cannot be read is refused with a message, and the title keeps its current face.
New titles start with the look of the last title you styled, font included. Settle the font on the first title and every later title arrives in it. To keep a favorite look for other projects, open the Text tab and use Save style.
Pick one now
Scrub to a frame, select a title and step through three faces while the preview updates. Choose the one that reads fastest, then open DepCut to test it on your own footage.
