Choose image shape and detail before you generate

Two small menus sit under the prompt box in the Image tab. They decide how your generated picture is shaped and how much detail it carries. Set them before you click Generate image and you spend less time fixing the result afterward.
Where the settings are
Open the left panel, choose AI Gen, then Image. Under the prompt box you will see two pills, Aspect ratio and Resolution, and below them the Generate image button.
Aspect ratio
The menu lists three shapes:
- Landscape · 16:9 suits widescreen projects and wide b-roll.
- Portrait · 9:16 suits vertical video.
- Square · 1:1 suits a picture you plan to crop, use as an overlay or reuse in more than one shape.
When the panel opens, DepCut selects the shape closest to your project's aspect ratio. A vertical project starts on Portrait and a widescreen one on Landscape. You can change it at any time, and the pill shows a short word such as Landscape while the menu shows the ratio.
Resolution
The options are 1K, 2K and 4K. Each row also shows the pixel size for the shape you chose. In Landscape, for example, 1K reads 1024 × 576. The tier sets the long edge and the short edge follows the shape, so the numbers change when you switch the aspect ratio. The default is 2K.
A simple routine works well. Test your wording at 1K until the composition is right, then run the same prompt at 2K or 4K. Each run is a new picture, so the larger one will not match the 1K test exactly. Pick a higher tier when the picture fills a large frame or when you plan to zoom into it.
Fit the picture to your frame
Once the image appears in the Generated grid, you can place it and tune how it sits in the frame.
- Drag the tile onto the main track. A still image lands as an eight-second clip.
- Select the clip and open the Framing tab in the right panel.
- Choose Fit to show the whole picture, with bars where the shapes differ. Choose Fill to crop the picture so it covers the frame.
- Use the Zoom slider for a closer crop. More resolution gives you more room to zoom before the picture softens.
- Set the length in the Trim tab, using Trim start and Trim end. A still image can stretch as far as you need.
If most of your pictures need a different shape from the project, check the left panel's Aspect ratio tab and set the project shape before you generate more images.
Set them through the Agent
The Agent accepts the same two choices in plain words. Try "Generate a 4K portrait image of rain on a window and put it first". When you leave them out, it uses the shape closest to your project and the resolution currently set in the Image panel, which is 2K unless you changed it, so name a tier when you want a specific one. The image appears as a card in the chat and goes onto the timeline only when you ask.
Pick the size, then generate
Open DepCut, set both pills for your next image, and compare the result at full frame.
