Cut a Travel Vlog With Location Titles and Whip Transitions

A travel vlog is a chain of places. It works when viewers feel each arrival and the pace stays steady between stops. This recipe uses plain cuts inside a place, a Whip transition when you move to the next one, and a title that names every stop.
Order and trim
- Create a project. Open Aspect ratio in the left panel and choose Widescreen · 16:9.
- Open Media and press Upload. Each video lands at the end of the main track, so upload in trip order.
- Trim each clip to its best few seconds with the Split and drop the left side and Split and drop the right side toolbar buttons.
Hand off between places
- Open Transitions in the left panel, which clears any clip selection. A round button appears on the main track at every cut.
- Click the round button between the last clip of one place and the first clip of the next. The Transitions tab opens, scoped to that cut.
- Scroll to the Whip heading and click Whip left. It applies at once.
- Use the Duration slider at the top of the tab to shorten or lengthen it. The range is 0.1 to 2 seconds.
- Leave the cuts inside a place as plain cuts. Whips stay meaningful when they only mark a change of location.
Add transitions before titles. A transition overlaps the two clips, so the edit gets shorter and everything after it moves earlier.
Name each place
- Move the playhead to the first clip of a place and press T.
- Open the Text tab in the right panel and type the place name. Then use the Size and Backdrop tabs to make it readable over the footage.
- Open Animate, keep In selected, and pick Typewriter. It is offered on titles only.
- With the title still selected, move the playhead to the next place and press Ctrl+D or Cmd+D. The copy lands at the playhead. Change its words in the Text tab.
- Repeat for each stop. Every copy keeps the same font, size and animation, so the titles read as one set.
Score the trip
- Put the playhead at the very start. Open AI Gen, choose Audio, then Music.
- In the Sample library pick Cinematic or Acoustic, hover a card and press its plus button.
- Music that runs past the last clip stretches the export beyond the picture. Click the music, park the playhead at the end of the final clip and press Split and drop the right side.
- Click the music clip again, open Fade out in the right panel and drag the slider until the last seconds taper.
- Open Volume in the same panel and lower the music so each place's own sound stays audible beneath it.
Before you share
Play the whole video once with Space. Check that every title appears as its place does and that each Whip lands on a change of location. Then press Export, choose a preset and press Export video.
