Edit a Gaming Highlight Reel With Slow Motion and Impacts

A highlight reel is a list of payoffs. Each one needs a short setup, a moment that gets room to breathe, and a hit that tells the viewer it mattered. This recipe cuts that structure out of long recordings and repeats it for every play.
Find and trim the play
- Create a project. Open Aspect ratio in the left panel and choose Widescreen · 16:9.
- Open Media, press Upload and add your recordings.
- Press Space to play and pause just before the play begins. While paused, the Left arrow and Right arrow step one frame at a time. Hold Shift to step one second.
- Press Split and drop the left side at the start of the setup. Move to just after the payoff and press Split and drop the right side.
- Repeat for each highlight, then put the best one last.
Slow the key moment
- Keep the pointer off the timeline. Park the playhead a beat before the key moment and press S. Park it just after the moment and press S again.
- Click the middle piece on the main track and open Speed in the right panel.
- Under Speed curve press Hero. The graph dips so the moment plays slowly, and the clip keeps its length. Bullet suits a sudden snap: it runs fast, drops to a crawl, then runs fast again.
- Fine-tune the graph if you like. Drag a point to change the speed there, click the graph to add a point, and double-click a point to remove it. Clear curve returns to normal.
Hit it
- Park the playhead on the frame of impact.
- Open Effects in the left panel, stay on Moving and drag Shake onto the clip. A new effect covers the whole clip it lands on.
- Drag the effect's left edge to the playhead, where it snaps. Then drag the right edge back so the shake lasts a fraction of a second.
- Open Sound FX, stay on Library, and type "hit" in Search sound FX. Preview a few rows, then drag one onto an empty audio row, then drag its bar until its left edge snaps to the playhead.
Link the highlights
- Open Transitions in the left panel, which clears any clip selection, then click the round button between two highlights.
- In the Transitions tab, scroll to the Glitch heading and click RGB split.
- Use the Duration slider at the top of the tab to keep it brief. The range is 0.1 to 2 seconds.
- Each transition overlaps the clips on either side, so the reel gets shorter and everything after it, effects and sounds included, moves earlier with the picture.
Mix and send
- Put the playhead at the start. Open AI Gen, choose Audio, then Music. In the Sample library pick Electronic and drag a card onto an empty audio row below the hit sounds, then drag its bar left until it snaps to the start.
- Select the music clip, open Volume in the right panel and lower it so the game's own audio and your hits stay clear.
- Click the music, park the playhead where the last clip ends and press Split and drop the right side. A hit sound that runs past the picture needs the same trim.
- Press Export, choose a preset and press Export video.
