A workout video needs two answers on screen at all times: what to do now and when it changes. Titles that follow the blocks answer the first, and a cue sound answers the second. This recipe starts from one continuous take and ends with a labeled, vertical routine.
Cut the blocks
- Create a project. Open Aspect ratio in the left panel and choose Vertical · 9:16.
- Open Media and press Upload. Your take lands on the main track.
- Press Esc so nothing else is selected, then press Space to play. At each change of exercise press Space to pause and press S. The clip splits at the playhead. Keep the pointer off the timeline, because over the timeline S cuts where the pointer is.
- After the splits, press the Down arrow to jump the playhead to the next clip boundary. The Up arrow jumps back. These two keys take you from block to block until sounds are on the timeline; after that they stop at each sound's start and end too.
Every title and sound goes on after the cuts, so nothing has to move twice.
Label each block
- Press the Back to start button beside the play button, then press T. A title reading "Your text" appears at the first block and lasts 3 seconds.
- Open the Text tab in the right panel. Type the exercise on one line and the target on a second line, such as "Squats" and "12 reps".
- Open the Size and Backdrop tabs and set a large, readable look. New titles take on the look of the last title you selected.
- Drag the right edge of the title bar toward the end of the block. It snaps to the cut.
- Press the Down arrow to reach the next block, press T, change the words, and stretch the title the same way.
Make rest obvious
- Jump to a rest block with the arrow keys, press T and change the words to "Rest".
- Open the Animate tab in the right panel and select Loop. Pick Pulse.
- Use the Speed slider under the tiles to set the pulse rate. The title now breathes while it is on screen; drag its right edge to the end of the break so it lasts the whole rest.
Cue every change
- Open Sound FX in the left panel and stay on Library. Type "ding" in Search sound FX and preview the rows.
- Drag one onto the timeline at the start of the first block. Release it on an empty audio row beneath any existing audio.
- Select the ding clip and press Ctrl+C or Cmd+C. Jump to the next block and press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V. The copy lands at the playhead on the same row. Repeat for each block.
- To let each cue cut through music, select a ding clip, open Duck in the right panel and lower the Duck others slider. While that clip plays, everything else dips to that level.
Add music and send it
- Open AI Gen, choose Audio, then Music. In the Sample library pick Upbeat or Electronic and drag a card onto an empty audio row below the dings, then drag its bar left until it snaps to the start.
- Click the music clip and park the playhead where the last block ends. Press Split and drop the right side so the music ends with the picture.
- Press Export, choose a preset and press Export video. When it finishes, open Media and press the finished row under Exports to see TikTok, Instagram and YouTube mock-ups.
Run it back
One structure covers every routine. Open DepCut, reuse the label look and cut the next workout.
