Find an AI clip or recording that is missing from Media
by DepCut Team
Published: October 30, 2026
You generated a clip, or recorded one, and it plays on the timeline. Then you open Media and the tile is nowhere to be found. The clip is safe. The Media tab lists the files you brought in yourself, and everything DepCut creates for you is filed elsewhere.
What stays out of Media
DepCut tags anything it creates, and the tag keeps it off the Media grid:
- AI-generated videos and images
- AI voiceovers and other generated audio
- Recordings from the Record menu in the top bar
- Freeze frames
- Stock clips and photos you add
Files you bring in with Upload, or drop onto the panel, appear in Media.
The Video and Image panels keep their results next to the prompt that made them, so you can reuse a prompt with Use this prompt or point to a result by name with Copy reference. Filing a result into Media is optional.
Where each one lives
- AI Gen, then Video: finished renders collect in a list under the prompt box.
- AI Gen, then Image: generated pictures appear as tiles under the controls.
- AI Gen, then Audio: voiceovers and music appear as rows under the generate button.
- Recordings go straight onto the timeline when you press Stop and use recording.
Hover a finished video tile and three small buttons appear in its corner: Add to timeline, Expand and More actions, a menu of three dots. The menu also holds Use this prompt, which loads the original prompt back into the box, and Copy reference, which copies the clip's @ name so you can mention it in another prompt.
File a clip into Media
You have three ways to move a generated or recorded item into the Media grid.
- Open More actions on its tile and choose Add to Media.
- Or open Clip options (the three-dot button on its bar in the timeline) and choose Add to Media.
- Or drag the tile, or the clip from the timeline, onto the Media tile in the left panel.
The item appears in Media at once. Nothing changes on the timeline. Dropping it anywhere on the open Media panel works too.
Share it with other projects
The same menus carry Add to Library. That copies the item to the Library, where any of your projects can reach it. Use it for a logo animation, a favorite voiceover or any clip you expect to reuse.
Be careful with Delete
Delete in a video tile's menu removes the render and its media file. If the clip plays on the timeline, DepCut asks first and tells you how many places will lose it. The confirmation also says the file cannot be restored.
Filing your keepers
Look in the generator panel first, then file the keepers into Media. Open DepCut, generate a clip, and try Add to Media from its menu.
