Generate a background for a title card in DepCut

A title card needs something behind the words. A plain black frame works, but a generated backdrop in the colors of your video makes the card feel designed. The Image tab can make one, and a DepCut title goes on top.
Describe an empty, calm picture
The best background leaves room for text. Write a prompt that names the mood, the colors and the empty space:
- "Soft teal and navy gradient with fine film grain, calm and empty in the center."
- "Warm paper texture in cream and tan, plenty of open space, no objects."
- "Dark blue night sky with faint stars, wide empty area in the middle."
Keep the subject simple. A busy picture fights with the title for attention. Leave lettering out of the prompt, because you will add the words as a DepCut title that stays sharp and editable.
Generate it
- Open the left panel, choose AI Gen, then Image.
- Type your prompt in the box. Click Aspect ratio and choose the shape of your project, such as Portrait · 9:16 for a vertical video. The panel starts on the closest shape, so check it.
- Leave Resolution on its default for a full-frame backdrop.
- Click Generate image. The result appears under Generated.
If the first picture is close, open the tile's … menu (More actions) and choose Use this prompt. Change a color or a word and generate again. Several images can render at once.
Put it on the timeline
- Drag the tile onto the main track at the point where the card should appear. A still image lands as an eight-second clip.
- Select the clip and set its length in the Trim tab of the right panel, using Trim start and Trim end. A still image can stretch as far as you need, and a title card often needs only a few seconds.
- Move the playhead onto the clip and press T. A title appears that reads "Your text".
- Change the words by double-clicking the title in the preview, or open the Text tab in the right panel and edit it there. Typed letters are editor shortcuts (S splits, T adds a title), so the words change only through those two routes.
- Drag the title's edges on its lane so it starts and ends with the picture.
Keep the text readable
- Pick a backdrop with one dominant tone and place light text on a dark picture, or the reverse.
- Use the title's Size and Color controls in the right panel until the words read at a glance.
- If the contrast is still weak, generate a darker or calmer image. Choose Use this prompt and add the word "dark" or "muted".
Reuse it, or ask the Agent
A backdrop is useful for more than one card. Open the tile's … menu and choose Add to Library, and the same picture is available in other projects. Put one copy at the start for the title, one near the end for a call to action, and one between sections as a chapter break.
The Agent can do the whole job in one message: "Generate a calm dark blue background and put it first, then add a title that says Spring Menu." It generates the picture, places it where you say and adds the title. You can still adjust the result by hand.
Make a title card
Open DepCut, generate one backdrop in your project's shape and press T on top of it.
