Keep a publishing log in the Details notes

Most editors lose track of a video the moment it is posted. Which cut went out, on what day, and what did you want to fix? The Details tab has a place for that record. At the bottom sits a Notes section that saves with the project, so the answer stays one click from the edit it describes.
The three Notes fields
- Published is a date picker. Enter the day the video went live.
- The links box has the placeholder "Links, one per line". Paste one URL per line, one for each place the video was posted.
- The text box has the placeholder "Anything worth remembering about this cut…". This is for lessons and reminders.
The section sits under a divider, below Caption, Tags and Sound title. Notes are never part of what Copy caption + tags copies, so your private reminders cannot slip into a post.
Log a video after you post it
- Open the project that produced the exported file.
- Open Details in the left panel and scroll to Notes.
- Choose the day in Published.
- Paste the post links, one per line.
- Write a line or two in the text box.
- Watch the top bar beside the project name. It shows Saving and then Saved.
Do it the same day the video goes out. A date typed from memory a week later is the first thing to go wrong, and a missing link is the second.
What to write in the text box
Short, specific entries stay useful for months. A few that earn their place:
- Which hook or caption version went out.
- One change you plan for the next episode.
- Footage you want to reuse, and where it sits on your computer.
- A reminder about something still open, such as a link to swap in later.
Skip anything you could rebuild in a minute. The log works best when each line saves you a search. Write in plain sentences, because you will read this months from now with no memory of the edit.
The links box takes one address per line. A video that went to several accounts gets one line per account, so a single glance shows everywhere it lives.
Notes travel with duplicates
Duplicating a project copies its document, and the notes come along. If you duplicate a posted video to make a second version, the old date and links appear in the copy. Clear them there so each project's log tells only its own story.
Read the log back
Open any project and its Details tab shows the record. For a series, pair the log with a clear project name so you find the right project first and read the history second. Each entry then answers the questions you would otherwise ask yourself at upload time: when did this go out, where, and what would I do differently?
Start with your last video
Pick the most recent video you posted. Open it in DepCut, go to Details and fill in the Notes while you still remember where it went and what you would change.
