Keep a video series looking the same from episode to episode

A series builds recognition when each episode looks and sounds like the last one. The way to get there is to reuse work you have already finished: the same frame, the same title look, the same caption style, the same intro. DepCut has a tool for each of these.
Start each episode from a copy
On the Projects page, open the three-dot menu on last episode's card (named Project actions) and choose Duplicate. DepCut makes a copy of the project with its edit and its media. Choose Rename on the copy, then swap in the new footage and keep everything around it: titles, sounds, framing, caption style and aspect ratio.
Click New folder on the same page and file the series in one place. The card menu lists your folders, so you can move each episode in.
Reuse your title look
A new title starts from the look of the last title you worked on in this browser, including its font, size, color, outline and backdrop. Style one title until it is right, and the next title you add with T begins there.
For a look you want to keep, select a title, open the Text tab in the right panel, and find Styles.
- Click Save style.
- Type a name and click Save.
- In any later title, click the style's chip to apply it.
Fix one caption look
A project has one caption style. Open Subtitles, choose a preset in Styles, and settle the details in Options: Font, Size, and Highlight spoken word with its color swatch. Write the choices in the Notes box at the bottom of the Details tab, so any fresh project can match them. A duplicate carries the look with it because the style is part of the project. Once the new footage is in, click Regenerate in the Content tab to caption it. Transcription spends credits from your account, as any new set of captions does.
Save the intro and outro as a template
If every episode opens and closes the same way, build that once.
- Shift-click the title, sound and clips of the intro so they are all selected.
- Click the Save the selection as a reusable template button in the timeline toolbar. Its icon is a folder with a plus.
- Open Media. The template appears as a card. Open its … menu and choose Add to Library.
- In a later project, open the Library tab inside Media and click + on the template to add it to the timeline.
The template keeps the clips, sounds and titles you selected as editable items. Stickers made from images stay out of it, so add those again by hand.
Keep the frame and export settings
Pick the same shape in the Aspect ratio tab for every episode, and use the same preset in the Export dialog. A series that switches between shapes asks viewers to readjust each time it appears.
Open the editor
Open DepCut, finish one episode the way you like it, and duplicate it for the next one.
