Keep Editing While Your Video Exports in DepCut

A long cut takes a while to render, and waiting at a dialog wastes that time. DepCut closes the Export dialog the moment you press Export video. Its footnote sums up the rest: the export renders in the background, and you can keep editing, open another project, or start more exports.
The exports card
Every export from every project shows in one card pinned to the bottom-right corner of the editor. Each row names its project, and the name links back to that project. Under the name, a status line tells you where the export stands:
- Preparing… while the export starts.
- A percentage with an elapsed clock while a render runs. A render that your browser tab does itself reads Rendering… with a percentage.
- Queued when other exports are ahead of it.
- Ready when the file is finished.
- The error message, or Export failed, when something goes wrong.
When two or more rows are on screen, the card gains an Exports header with a count of what is running and queued, a collapse arrow, and Clear all for finished rows.
Control a running export
A running or queued row has two controls. Cancel stops the export. The small x hides the row, and its tooltip reads "Hide — the export keeps running", so you can clear the corner and still get your file. On a render that your browser tab runs itself, the x is labelled Stop export and ends the render.
A finished row offers a Download button. For a project stored on your Mac, Show in Finder appears beside it and opens the file's location. Press the x when you are done with the row.
Find finished files later
Dismissing a row removes it from the card and leaves the file in the project. Open the Media tab and scroll below your imported files to the Exports list. Each entry shows a thumbnail, the date and time, and the size in MB.
- Click an entry to play it back as a post preview.
- Use the folder icon (on a Mac project) or the download icon to save the file.
- Use the trash icon to delete it. DepCut asks you to confirm, and only the rendered file goes. Your cut is untouched, so you can export it again at any time.
Notice when one lands
While one of the open project's exports is queued or running, the Media icon in the left panel shows a spinner. When an export finishes while the tab is closed, the icon picks up a count badge. That signal reaches you even if you have hidden the card.
Work on something else
The card follows you across projects, so a good rhythm is to start an export, open the next project and carry on. The project-name link in each row brings you back when you want to check on a render. If you start a second export of the same project, it is saved under its own name beside the first.
Next export
Start your next render from the Export button in DepCut and keep cutting while the card does the counting.
