Organize your DepCut projects into folders

Once you have many projects, one flat grid gets slow to scan. Folders on the Projects page group related work, such as a client, a series or a month, and they behave like folders on a desktop. You open the page from Editor, then Video, in the sidebar.
Create a folder
- Click New folder at the top of the Projects page.
- Type a name in the field that appears and press Enter.
The folder shows up as a tile above your projects. Each tile lists how many projects it holds and their combined size. Click a tile to open it. The header changes to a breadcrumb, Projects / Folder name. Click Projects to go back up. The open folder is part of the page address, so the browser's Back button also steps out of it.
While a folder is open, New project creates the project inside that folder.
Move projects into a folder
Pick whichever method suits the moment:
- Drag a project card onto a folder tile.
- Open the Project actions menu on a card. It lists your folders, with a check mark beside the current one. Choose a folder, or No folder to take the project back out.
- Drag a card onto the Projects breadcrumb while a folder is open to move it to the top level.
Move many at once
You can select several projects before you drag.
- Press and drag on empty space to draw a selection box over the cards you want. Or Shift-click or ⌘-click individual cards to add and remove them.
- Drag any selected card onto a folder tile.
The whole selection moves together, and the drag ghost shows the count. A plain click on empty space clears the selection.
Rename and delete
Double-click a folder tile to rename it, or open Folder options on the tile and choose Rename. The same menu has Delete folder.
Deleting a folder deletes only the folder. The projects inside return to the top level of the Projects page.
Folders and homes
A folder lives in one home, either On this Mac or Cloud. A project can only be filed into a folder in its own home, so a cloud project cannot go into a Mac folder. A new folder is created in the home you picked on the Dashboard's New Project card. If you work in both homes, create one set of folders in each.
If the Mac app is closed, the Mac's projects and folders stay on screen, but they cannot be renamed, moved or deleted until the app is running again.
Put it to work
Make a folder for your current job in DepCut, then select its projects with a box and drag them in together.
