Prepare Your Video for Upload With the Details Tab

The text around a video takes real thinking, and it is easy to write it in a rush at the upload screen. DepCut gives that text a home inside the project. The Details tab, just below Subtitles in the left panel, holds the caption, tags and sound title for the video, and it saves with the cut.
What the Details tab holds
- Video has Fade in and Fade out sliders for the whole video. At zero they read Off.
- Caption is a free-text box. Its prompt reads "What's happening in this video?" and adds that hooks read best in the first line.
- Tags takes words separated by spaces or commas.
- Sound title records the track you used, for example "My track — artist".
- Notes keeps a Published date, a box for links (one per line) and a box for anything worth remembering about the cut.
Each of the caption, tags and sound title fields has its own copy button, so you can paste one piece into a platform's separate field.
Write the caption and tags
Put the point of the video in the first line of the caption. Platforms often show only the opening of a long caption, so the first line does the most work.
For tags, type the words with or without a hash. DepCut turns each one into a hashtag and shows them as chips beneath the box, so "fyp howto cut" becomes #fyp #howto #cut. The panel suggests three to five focused tags and reminds you that tags count toward the caption limit.
Copy everything at once
Press Copy caption + tags. DepCut joins your caption and the hashtag line with a blank line between them and puts the result on your clipboard. The button reads Copied for a moment to confirm. A counter under the button tracks the combined length against the caption limit and turns red if you go over.
Preview the export as a post
Once you have exported, open the Media tab and find the file in the Exports list. Click it to open the post preview. Four pills across the top switch the view:
- Original plays the export at its own frame size. Hover it for a play button, a seek bar and a clock.
- TikTok, Instagram and YouTube place the video in a phone frame with that platform's overlay, showing your caption, tags and sound title where the platform would show them.
The preview starts muted. Use the speaker button in the corner to hear it, and press Escape to close. Use it to check that a long caption does not push key text off the screen and that your captions on the video sit clear of the platform's buttons.
Record the result
After you publish, come back to Notes. Enter the Published date and paste the post link. Months later, the project tells you where the video went.
Ready to post
Fill in the Details tab for your next video in DepCut, export it, and run the post preview before you upload.
