Rename, duplicate and delete DepCut projects

Every project on the Projects page has a Project actions menu, the three dots at the top right of its card. In list view the same menu sits at the end of the row. Cloud projects also list Share project at the top of it. This post walks through the everyday actions in the menu and the two ways to view your projects.
Rename a project
Choose Rename in the menu, type the new name in the Rename project dialog and click Rename. Inside the editor you can also click the project name in the top bar, edit it and press Enter.
Projects created from the New project button on the Projects page start as "Untitled". A project made from a dropped video file takes the file's name without its extension.
Duplicate a project
Choose Duplicate to make a copy named after the original with " copy" added. The copy has the same edit and its own copy of the media files, and it stays in the same folder as the original. Rendered exports are left out of a Mac duplicate. Cloud duplicates also carry the project's assistant conversations along.
Cloud duplicates are queued, so the copy can take a moment to appear. The page waits for it and refreshes the list when it lands. If it fails, a red message appears under the page header.
Use a duplicate when you want to try a different cut. Edit the copy, and the original stays as it was.
Delete a project
Choose Delete. A confirmation titled Delete “Project name”? explains that the whole project folder goes, including its media files and exports, and that this cannot be undone. Click Delete project to confirm.
Anything you saved to the Library is a separate copy, so Library items stay after the project is gone.
Gallery and list views
Two buttons at the top right switch the layout once you have at least one project: Gallery view and List view. DepCut remembers your choice in that browser.
- Gallery view shows vertical 9:16 tiles, the shape of phone video. Hover a tile to play a preview of the edit. Under each tile you see its size and when it was last edited, and the length sits on the tile itself.
- List view shows one row per project with Name, Length, Size and Edited columns. The row ends with a New project button.
In both views, click a project to open it. Shift-click or ⌘-click adds a project to your selection, which is how you build a group for dragging into a folder.
When the Mac app is closed
Projects on your Mac stay in the list when the Mac app is closed. Their cards lose the menu, so you cannot rename, duplicate, move or delete them until the app is running again. Cloud projects keep their menus.
Try it
Open the Projects page in DepCut, duplicate a project you like, and rename the copy before you experiment on it.
