Share a cloud project as a read-only link
by DepCut Team

To get feedback on a cut, you can send a link and let people watch it in DepCut. The link is read-only, so reviewers can look at the project but cannot change it. Sharing is a feature of cloud projects. If your project lives on your Mac, move it to the cloud first.
Open the Share dialog
You can reach it in two places:
- In the editor, click Share in the top bar.
- On the Projects page, open Project actions on a cloud project and choose Share project.
The editor's Share button stays disabled while the project has no clips, while uploads are still finishing, or while an import has failed. When uploads are the cause, the tooltip says "Finishing uploads…". When an import failed, it says "Retry the failed imports first". Fix that and the button turns on.
Choose who can open the link
In the Share project dialog, the General access menu has two settings.
- Restricted: only people you invite can view, and they have to sign in. Type an email address into the People field and press Enter. Each address appears as a chip, and the small x on a chip removes that person.
- Anyone with the link: anyone can view without signing in.
Every change saves as soon as you make it, so there is no save button. Closing the dialog is all you need to do.
Decide what else viewers see
Viewers always get the preview and the timeline. Open Also share to switch on more:
- Chat: AI chat threads and their cards.
- Media: uploaded files beyond the timeline.
- AI generations: generated video, image and audio.
- Subtitles: the transcript panel.
- Details: caption, tags and notes.
Everything is off until you turn it on. Subtitles also decides whether viewers see your captions during playback, so switch it on when the captions are part of the review. If a review does not need your chat history or your notes, leave those switches off.
Copy the link
- Click Copy link. The first copy creates the share, so the link works the moment it is on your clipboard.
- Paste it into an email or a message. The button reads Copied for a moment.
When a link is created, DepCut builds a preview card for it from the opening of your cut, and prepares a version that plays on phones. Opening the dialog on an existing share refreshes the card to match the cut as it stands now.
Update or stop sharing
Keep editing after you share. People who have the link open will see your newer edits after a short delay, because the shared view checks for changes on an interval and does not stream them live.
To switch the link off, open the dialog and click Stop sharing. The link stops working. Someone who opens it afterwards sees that the share link is no longer active, and a viewer who already has it open is told the share is no longer available.
Give it a go
Open a cloud project in DepCut, click Share, and send yourself the link to see what a reviewer gets.
