Use the Library to share media across projects

You finish one video and start the next, and you need the same logo sting, the same music bed or the same B-roll again. The Library is where those files live. It is shared across all your projects, so you upload a file once and reuse it everywhere.
What the Library holds
The Library holds videos, images and audio files. It also lists any templates you have saved to it, as cards above the media. Open it from Library in the sidebar. A new, empty Library says "Your Library is shared across all projects" and invites you to drag files onto the page.
Add media
- Click Add media at the top right, or drag files from your desktop anywhere onto the page.
- In the Add media dialog, click Choose files and pick videos, audio or images.
- To bring in a clip from the web, paste a TikTok, YouTube or Instagram link into the link field and click Import.
Files show an "Uploading…" tile while they transfer, and a link shows "Downloading…" with a running timer. Only import links to material you have the right to reuse.
A file that cannot be read is skipped, and the rest of the batch still uploads. The cloud side of the Library needs a file your browser can decode, so a format the browser cannot play will not go there.
Sort items into folders
- Click New folder, type a name and press Enter.
- Drag cards onto the folder tile to file them. Drop files from your desktop onto a tile to upload straight into that folder.
- Click a folder tile to open it, and click Library in the breadcrumb to go back.
You can select several cards before dragging. Press and drag on empty space to draw a selection box. Hold Shift or ⌘ when you start the box to keep the cards already selected. Double-click a folder to rename it, or use Folder options to rename or delete it.
Where items are stored
The Library follows the same home choice as new projects. If you can use both homes, a file you add lands on the home picked on the Dashboard's New Project card, and a file added inside a folder lands on that folder's home. Open Card options on a card to see whether it sits on your Mac or in the cloud. Folder tiles carry a small cloud or laptop icon. A folder belongs to one home, so a card can only be filed into a folder on its own side.
Hover over a video card to play it, and its file size appears. If the Mac app is closed, Mac items stay in the list as read-only cards. Click one and a banner says DepCut cannot reach the DepCut app, with a How to fix this link.
Rename and remove
Open Card options on a card to Rename it or choose Remove from library. The confirmation says projects that already use the item keep their own copy.
Try it on your own footage
Add the clips you reuse most to the Library in DepCut and put them in a folder named for the job.
