Why the Generate button is grayed out in AI Gen

You open AI Gen, pick a panel, and the Generate button will not respond. Four buttons share this behavior: Generate video, Generate image, Generate audio and Generate music. Two conditions switch them off. Both leave a visible clue.
Know which panel you are in
AI Gen is one tile in the left panel. At its top, the Video, Image and Audio buttons switch between three generators. Inside Audio, a second switch picks Voice or Music. Each generator has its own prompt box and its own button, so a filled prompt in one panel does nothing for another. Check the panel header first, which reads "Generate video" or "Generate image" for those two.
The prompt or script box is empty
Every button waits for text. Spaces on their own count as empty.
- Video and Image. Type a description in the prompt box. The video button reads Generate 2 videos (or 3, or 4) when you raise Number of takes above one.
- Audio, then Voice. The box under Script asks "What should the voice say?" Hover the gray Generate audio button and the tooltip reads Write a script above to generate.
- Audio, then Music. Hover the gray Generate music button and it reads Describe the music above to generate.
Type a sentence and the button lights up. For the image and video prompts, drop an image onto the panel or type @ in the box to reference media from the project.
Once the button is live, press it. In Video, the line under the button reads "Renders take a minute or two. Keep editing while it runs." and a row labeled Rendering… with a running timer appears in the list below. The finished clip replaces that row.
The editor sees you as signed out
Generation runs on your DepCut account. If your sign-in has lapsed in this tab, the buttons stay gray and a line appears under them.
- In Video and Image: "Generating runs on your DepCut account. Sign in to continue."
- In Voice: "Voiceovers run on your DepCut account. Sign in to continue."
- In Music: "Music runs on your DepCut account. Sign in to continue."
- Press the Sign in link in that line. It opens the sign-in page and sends you back to the editor afterwards.
- Return to the editor tab. The buttons switch on.
If you sign in from another browser tab, switch back to the editor tab afterwards. The editor re-checks your sign-in each time the tab regains focus, so a reload is unnecessary.
A shared view hides the form
When you open someone else's shared link, the image and video panels list the owner's generations and show no prompt box or button. The view is read-only. Use Copy project in the top bar to get your own copy, then generate in that copy.
A quick test
Look under the button. A sign-in line tells you the account is the cause. No sign-in line means the box is empty. Open DepCut, type one sentence into the prompt, and the button should wake up.
