How to make a faceless YouTube video with AI

Published: October 30, 2026
Faceless channels are some of the fastest-growing on YouTube. Explainers, top-10 lists, history stories, finance tips and motivational shorts all work without anyone on camera. The video is carried by a voice, strong visuals and clear captions.
This guide shows how to make one from start to finish in DepCut.
1. Pick a format you can repeat
A faceless channel grows on consistency. Choose one format and stick to it for your first ten videos:
- Explainer: one question, answered in 60 seconds to 8 minutes.
- List: "5 things you didn't know about…"
- Story: a short narrated story with a twist at the end.
- Tips: one practical tip per Short.
Decide the shape too. Vertical 9:16 for Shorts, landscape 16:9 for long videos. See pick an aspect ratio before you start editing.
2. Write the script
Write the way you speak, in short sentences. Open with a hook in the first line, deliver one idea per sentence, and end with one call to action. The DepCut AI assistant can draft a script for you, and asking for text in the chat does not spend credits.

3. Generate the voiceover
Paste your script into the AI voiceover tool, pick a voice, and generate. Listen once and fix any word it mispronounces by changing the spelling in the script. Full steps: generate an AI voiceover from a script.
4. Build the visuals
Lay visuals over the voice, changing the picture every few seconds to hold attention. Mix three sources:
- Stock footage and images from the bundled catalog, which cost nothing.
- AI images for things stock cannot show.
- AI video clips for key moments that need motion. See generate AI video clips.
For a fast start, give the assistant a short brief and it plans a narrated scene, shot by shot, for you to approve. See turn a brief into a narrated video.
5. Add captions, music and sound
Faceless videos rely on captions, because many viewers watch muted. Generate subtitles from the voiceover and style them large and readable. Then add quiet background music and duck it under the voice. Useful guides:
6. Keep every episode consistent
Use the same voice, caption style, music mood and intro for every video. Viewers recognize the channel before they read the name. See keep a video series looking the same.
7. Export and post
Write your title, caption and tags in the Details tab, export, and post. See prepare your video for upload.
Rules to follow
- Use stock and AI media you have the rights to. Avoid clips from other channels.
- Add something original: your script, research and point of view.
- Fact-check every claim before you publish.
